When you order a salad, do you ask for the dressing on the side? Better yet, how about a burger? Hold the pickle, hold the tomato? Those are special orders. We don’t have to settle for almost right. We all want to get what we want, and if we are making a big investment, let’s say on furniture, shouldn’t it be just the way you want it? So what makes your furniture order, special? It is custom selected by you with many of the details exactly the way you want them. Do you want the cushion to be softer on your sofa? We can do that. Do you want the toss pillows to be in a fun floral print? Easy! Do you need your sectional to fit right between the window and the fireplace? Check and check. This is also true of dining rooms and bedrooms. You like the bed, but not in the stain that you see in the showroom, or you wish the nightstand had more drawers. Special ordering can take care of that. Custom ordered furniture is just that: made to order. The fabric is not cut, hand upholstered, the cushions selected and inspected until YOU place the order. There is not a sea of blue sofas with floral pillows waiting to be selected. The skilled staff of people wait until they receive your instructions for the details before they do what they do best: construct your furniture! We are also fortunate to have so many of our talented craftsmen and women with our vendors located close by in the US and Canada. Fortunately, we are also in the best time of the year to customize your upholstery. Normally, special ordering the fabric on your sofa, sectional, or chair will cost more, and depending on the fabric you choose, sometimes quite a bit more. For a limited time during our design your own Upholstery Event, you can choose from hundreds of fabrics and leathers that are available at no additional charge. Don’t forget about the many other options to make your piece perfect for you. Some you may not have even thought of. Did you know that some of our recliners can be made to swivel? (See our Urban.)  A stationary chair like the Aviva can be special ordered as a swivel. The seat cushions too soft for you? The Bailey and Stuart (and many others!) can be ordered with a firmer cushion. Love the Ashmont Dining but what you see in the store is not the right fit for your home? We can get a smaller or larger table in a vast selection of stains or painted finishes. What we feature in our beautiful showrooms is just a hint of what we can create with you. Nailheads on chairs, matching counter stools and dining are all available for the asking. Of course we also carry a lot of in stock pieces if you don’t want to wait! And you can certainly combine stock pieces and special orders at the same time.
